Earlier this year, Dead Reckoning Collective opened submissions to poets for their third anthology book, So Long: The Anthology of Poet Warriors (Vol III). This anthology of the Global War on Terror and its lasting affects on those who served in the Middle East was an opportunity to speak to endings and closure. I, along with hundreds of other poets and over a thousand submissions put pen to paper to express our thoughts and feelings on a ruthless war no one ever wanted.

I am honored to have been one of the 75 poets chosen, along with 2 of my original poems for this anthology that is finally out! "Warriors come in all forms, but there are common threads; these anthologies have served as the rope formed from those threads weaved together in strength and solidarity. “So Long: The Anthology of Poet Warriors (Vol III)” is a farewell to war and the closing of a chapter on romanticized violence and victimhood. It is the welcome party to a new beginning, a send off, a departure toward new definitions of self, of service, and of country." - Dead Reckoning Collective

War and poetry have been woven together over centuries in order to express the profound impacts it has on those who have endured or experienced its brutality. Sadly, no one poem could ever capture the meaning of war, for, such a definition does not exist. However, the warrior poets such as myself and those in this anthology will continue to strive for understanding, giving a glimpse into both the horrors and hopes we have overcome and believe.
